Let the jacket take over
Ever since Sonam Kapoor wore one on the Cannes red carpet, our designers have
sort of made a trend out of long jackets.
The thing with long jackets is, it will hide flab, and if cut to fit the
body, will make you look taller, slimmer. Not only that, you can also pair it
with anything from a sari to a salwar, from jeans to shorts, and still look

Want a train?
Sonam Kapoor turned heads by sporting this look on the Cannes red carpet in
2013. A smart move when most actresses were opting for gowns, Sonam gave a
modern twist to her sari by wearing a heavily embellished bolero-train jacket
over it. Going monotone sort of added to the elegance of the ensemble. Not only
that, the nath that she wore became the talk of the town for quite a while!
Jacket kurta
There have been so many variations in the kurta-salwar look. Here, Kareena
Kapoor Khan wears a long jacket kurta over what looks like dhoti pants. This
black-and-gold ensemble looks elegant and the jacket stands out as she has
paired it over plain black lowers. You could try this look for a party!
Jacket over a sari
It need not always be the blouse that's paired with a sari. Try a long jacket
—embroidered or embellished, however you want it. Like the model in the picture,
a long jacket in a deep shade will match elegantly with a sari, provided you opt
