Lancôme's Newest Collab

Short skirts slashed to the hip bones; necklines cut down to the rib cage;
heels so high and spiked and dangerous that they defy gravity and double as a
lethal weapon: Italian-Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello is the king of
everything sexy and rock and roll. And it's no different with the designer's
first foray into makeup, which he debuted backstage at his spring 2016 show.

Introducing Anthony Vaccarello for Lancôme, a line of three sparkly, sultry
eye-shadow palettes that look as decadent on the inside as they do on the
outside with their black-and-gold packaging and faux-leather sleeve. The
collection launches exclusively tomorrow on Net-a-Porter, but I got a sneak peek
backstage as makeup artist Tom Pecheux broke out Golden Black (the others are
Green Envy and Blue Mania, which gives you an idea of what colors they contain),
to create one hell of a sexy, yet subtle, gilded smoky eye.

"It's very sophisticated and polished but in a natural way," said Pecheux. To
do that, he brushed all three of the gold shades in the palette onto the lids,
starting with the lightest in the inner corners and getting darker as he reached
the end of the lash line. Then, after smudging a bit of brown pencil along the
outer corners of the eyes, Pecheux took the gold-flecked brown shade in the
palette and layered it on top, applying it in a rectangle-like shape and
blending it until it became just a hint of bronzy smoke. Finally, he dipped a
brush into the yellowy-gold hue and dusted it along the cheekbones, making the
models' skin glow and twinkle under the lights. "Not only does the gold catch
the light, it gives us the effect of total luxury," said Pecheux.

If you're more into color, you can always go for the two other palettes in
the collection—or you could try out the second look Pecheux created for the
show: Four models, who already had their lash lines rimmed in inky-black liner,
wore the same fiery red lipstick (Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge in Caprice) on their
lids and lips. It was much more edgy and eccentric that the soft cloud of gold
and bronze, but as Pecheux put it, "It's still for Anthony, so of course, it's
still has to be just as sexy."
