fashion week trend
The fashion week season has just concluded in the Capital and there are some
stylish fringe benefits we’re ready to tap into. Fringes might remind you of the
freewheeling 70s when male musicians often adorned fringed jackets and the
ladies paired their bell-bottoms with fringed boots, making them quite the rage
in the realm of retro fashion.
Over the decades, the style element has evolved in a myriad ways. From
paper-shred fringes to more edgy metallic or chainmail versions – here’s runway
inspiration and styling takeaways to help you binge on fringe the right way.
Fringed layering
At the recently concluded Amazon India Fashion Week, husband-wife designer
duo Pankaj & Nidhi set the pace for floor-length fringe detailing, that was
seen both, on clothes as well as accessories. The designer duo’s
militia-inspired collection turned fringes into a power statement with
epaulettes that evolved into metallic fringes, jackets studded with the
detailing and even bags with fringes.
The same style was also spotted at Namrata Joshipura’s runway, where she
showed off fringed jackets paired with glam maillot-style Wedding Dresses
Cardiff, as a part of her collection, inspired by the street style of New
York. As a part of the Grand Finale, Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna also presented
creations adorned with floor-length fringes that added a big dose of drama.

What we learn : Fringes are done best with smart layering. From fringed capes
worn over breezy shift Wedding Dresses
London to fringed jackets paired with glitzy jumpsuits –take cue from our
very own runways to ace the style. If you want to play it different, get the
fringed style onto your wrists and sleeves. Colourful lacy fringes and epaulette
shoulder pads adorned with metallic fringes will make the cut for an updated
wardrobe for the next season.
Fringed skirts were predicted to be hot this season. Here are creations by

Hemline high
Love your skirts? Here’s inspiration to add some fun to their hemlines. Ditch
multi-tiered sheer skirts and add a dose of Coachella or vintage Woodstock with
this boho hemline. We spotted the fringed skirt trending at Christopher Kane and
at the showcase by tennis player Serena Williams. Both predicted fringes being
hot for spring/summer 2016, and they couldn’t have been more right. The best
part about a fringed hemline? It moves and grooves with you – fashion in motion
at its best.
What we learn : If picking a summer-perfect midi or even a shorter version of
your go-to skirt, a fringed hemline will score you massive fashion points. Pair
with a boxy tee and your favourite pair of heels and you’re good to go!

Stole our hearts!
The Capital weather is a tricky puzzle to nail. From sunny days turning into
chilly nights and vice versa, a lot of us have a go-to all-weather stole or
scarf that we carry to tackle the whether. To make this indispensible wardrobe
item on-trend, pick a fringed version. From desi runways to Paris ramps, a
fringed scarf has made its way onto the fashion charts. Actor Jacqueline
Fernandez was also spotted sporting a knitted scarf lined with fringes at the
airport: some travel inspo for jet setters!
What we learn : Colour-code your look by picking a stole which is a perfect
match for your dress. The fringes will break the monotony of your look and add
instant fun. You can also go the exact opposite way and colourblock to suit your
mood.
